80 Prime CosmoBayes 2021 - 2023 (PI)

CosmoBayes #

The CosmoBayes project falls within the new direction developed by the Aquila Consortium and its recent collaboration with mathematicians. The Aquila consortium aims at answering fundamental cosmological questions by studying the spatial distribution of matter in the Universe. In particular, inside the BORG framework, the primordial initial conditions are recovered from today observational data through Bayesian inference via physical forward modelling and Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling. Next-generation cosmological surveys will generate huge amounts of complex data and more advanced, but robust, statistical methods are now required. The goal of the CosmoBayes project is to combine both the expertises in analysis and probability on one side and cosmology and HPC computations on the other in order to implement recent and promising stochastic algorithms, known as Piecewise Deterministic Monte Carlo, on their first large-scale real-data application
